In September 1963, months before President John F. Kennedy was assasinated in Texas in November, a 4th grade student named Melony Ann McGant (daughter of Civil Rights Activist #BettyJTilman)
became the first African American to attend Mount Mercy College (now Carlow University) Campus School in Pittsburgh, PA.
